Latest post: PNR South Long Haul. News: Chiang Rai railway, Hanoi Metro, Phnom Phnom Penh-HCMC expressway gets funding on both sides of the border, and more
Greetings from Manila! I’ve split my time here between Malate and Makati to give myself a taste of old and new Manila. I started compiling a Future Manila page, but there is so much going on that I will not be able to list all of the cities that make up Metro Manila straight away.
To ease myself into writing about Manila, I’m starting with rail transport. So far I have taken the three urban rail lines and visited the main national rail station. The railway from Manila to Southern Luzon is fragmented and not useful for tourists. That will change with the reconstruction of the South Long Haul line, which is the topic of this week’s article.
I will have a trip report for subscribers next week once I have finished this trip. For now, I am about to look at some more construction sites.
