A proposed metro railway connecting Da Nang and Hoi An
Indonesia to resume new capital project, updates on the Jakarta-Bandung HSR, Malaysia's East Coast Rail Link, and more transport and construction news around Southeast Asia.
Da Nang is the third-most populous city in Vietnam, and if the latest metro plan is approved it would be the third city in Vietnam to build an urban transit system (behind Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City).
Plans for some kind of metro system in Da Nang have been proposed over the years, which would include a train to the popular tourist destination of Hoi An. I had been told by some developers that the project was unlikely to go ahead, yet that hasn’t stopped some projects advertising that their property will be near a future metro line.

This month the city put out a new call for investors for two metro routes, so the project lives on. With this latest news announcement, I’ve compiled a fact sheet of what is known about the proposed metro, including links to resources on the subject.
