An airport city and high-speed rail in Eastern Thailand
Penang South Island expected to go ahead, Khon Kaen to trial light rail network, work begins on Sa Pa Airport, and more construction, transport, and infrastructure news in Southeast Asia.
Greetings from Rayong City - the capital of Rayong Province in Eastern Thailand. U-Tapao Airport (also marketed as Pattaya Airport) is in Rayong province, and the 3-Airport High-speed railway will eventually connect it to Bangkok. There is also a proposal to extend this railway to Rayong City, putting this unassuming provincial capital within an easy train trip to Bangkok.
This week’s article is a fact sheet of projects planned for Rayong Province. There is not much to report on yet, but one of the big projects is the Airport City at U-Tapao Airport. And if the railway is extended then expect to see more happening in Rayong City.
