Sihanoukville report (Part I) - Sihanoukville construction list
Development of Solo-Semarang railroad commenced, Penang govt files court challenge to revive ‘3 islands’ project, and more construction and transport news in Southeast Asia
Greetings from Kampot, Cambodia! This week I have been to Sihanoukville (city) and Koh Rong (also in Sihanoukville province).
The last time I was in Sihanoukville was in 2018, and a lot has happened in four years. I was planning to post a construction report for Sihanoukville this week, but time got the better of me. To post a construction report I first needed to map and catalogue everything that is being built or planned in Sihanoukville.
I also needed more time to process what I just saw. I posted some photos on Twitter of half-finished buildings and abandoned casinos. I’m staggered by what has happened here.
I'm in Sihanoukville after 4 years away, and the city is awash with half-finished buildings and abandoned casinos. Here is the view from Ou Chheuteal Beach
