The hybrid hydrogen tram of Kuching

Urban rail transit is a catch-all name that lumps, metro, light rail, trams, and other rail systems under one roof. Not included is BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), but this proposed “railway” in Kuching is part bus and part light rail. The Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) of Kuching has rubber wheels and also has its own dedicated track (like a BRT). It looks like a tram though, and if you weren’t paying attention when you board you may not know otherwise. The company that is building it is called Sarwawak Metro, so instead fo saying you are getting the hybrid bus-tram, you can say you are getting the metro. Anyway, Paris has rubber-tyred metro lines, so who cares if it’s steel wheels or rubber tyres. The more important detail is that this metro will be running with hydrogen batteries, making it a unique metro system in the world.
